Question:
My 19 year old CRF cat (fluids every other day) started drinking from a glass containing a protein drink I had mixed up after a workout. She was really lapping it up (probably for the milk in it). But I’ve heard that protein is good for CRF cats – would it be all right if she had an ounce or two each day?
Response:
>But I’ve heard that protein is good for CRF cats – would it be all right >if she had an ounce or two each day?
Without knowing the exact ingredients, it would be impossible to say. I would show the can to your vet. He should be able to tell you if it’s okay. =^..^= "When I die, I want to die like my grandmother who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car." * Author Unknown

The RF in CRF stands for renal failure, and when that happens one of the main things that can *not* be safely eaten in quantity is protein. The veterinary recommended diets are all low-protein. So unless you want your cat to die faster, keep it out of the protein drink. E
Response:
Absolutely NOT, protein is one of the primary nutrients which need to be reduced, because of the level of phosphorous that comes with the protein. Don’t add anything to a renal failure diet, doing so will cause serious problems.
