Exercise R Us » Jogging » ? Celebrity ZENITH "obstructed view" Bahamas Deck (cat 7) ??
Question:
Can anyone clearly describe this obstructed view cabin ?? Is it on the jogging/walking deck ? Can you see the ocean? What exactly is obstructed?? TIA AL
Response:
If I remeber correctly, the lifeboats are in the way of a clear view of the ocean. If you want the full view, you could always go to the public deckto get the view. Happy Cruisin’ Mark Home Port: Monmouth County,NJ.
Response:
If you are lucky your port hole is between two life boats, if not you have a great view of a life boat. The cabins on the Zenith (not the suites) are all the same square footage and not bad for a 10 year old ship.

Even though you won’t have the view, you’ll still get natural light into the room, which is my top reason for getting outside cabins. For the limited time I’m in the cabin, a view isn’t that crucial. But I desperately need natural light to wake me up in the morning. Lee
Response:
We had obstructed view once (late booking) and never again. You automatically keep trying to "move" the obstruction but of course to no avail. As for daylight, it does filter in but thats it. SUNNY<……prefers no obstruction, outside cabin, definitly with balcony S.nd I

If I’m not mistaken, these are in fact one deck above the jogging/walking deck. The lifeboats, which are the obstructions, are brought down to deck level for boarding — you look up at the bottom of their hulls as you walk outside. The category 7 cabins are located towards the center of the ship on a fairly high deck for a budget cabin. You can’t see much, but you do get natural daylight. Category 6 and 8 have full views, but are located lower and in the bow. So at the price, you get your choice between a full view from farther down, and poorer location, or better location and natural light but no view. I think Cat. 8 are portholes and 7 have a window, too, but don’t quote me

I’ve had the cat 7 for Bermuda and have it again for the SGC we pick a cabin in between the lifeboats and the obstruction isn’t bad at all. still get the light, still can see the ocean. would prefer a balcony but on the zenith that’s not possible anyway! — Sheree Join us on the SGC2003 to Bermuda http://www.hometown.aol.com/sgc2003 remove nospam to email

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Are the deck plans accurate as to the placement of lifeboats? — "If this is coffee, please bring me some tea. If this is tea, please bring me some coffee." - Abraham Lincoln

they were last time so I’m assuming they will be this time! It’s a great deal this way, we’re on an upper deck and get the light! As a captain’s club member I only have to pay for the Cat 8!!! — Sheree Join us on the SGC2003 to Bermuda http://www.hometown.aol.com/sgc2003 remove nospam to email

You don’t have to "get lucky." We studied the diagram of the ship on the brochure and selected a room on this basis. It worked perfectly and we had a nice view between two lifeboats. Jim

I’ll stow this in my bag of tricks, as this looks like a fabulous deal for those of us who like to save a buck and are happy without a balcony, if the price is right and the cabin is nice. It would be especially good for a popular cruise that was likely to sell out. — "This is the sort of thing people will like who like this sort of thing." – Abraham Lincoln

Maybe others have found differently but when I have been quoted prices, the difference between an obstructed view and a non obstructed view was only about $50 for the cabin. It was not that fabulous a deal. I was in an obstructed view cabin once when I was upgraded and it turned out to be between the lifeboats so that was a good deal but I don’t think I would go for obstructed cabins normaly. — Charles
Response:
On the Zenith, the Cat 7 obstructed view is on a higher deck than the cat 5 and 6 so it’s about $100 per person cheaper. — Sheree Join us on the SGC2003 to Bermuda http://www.hometown.aol.com/sgc2003 remove nospam to email
