hi everyone.. well its day three of pred and my moods are swinging!! i had this incredible euphoric feeling yesterday afternoon and took care of all the errands i had been neglecting, but then i got this horrible headache and muscle pain all over and had to take to my bed for the whole night crying and laughing intermittently.. REALLY annoying.  but anyway, one of my errands was to go to the book store and i found a WONDERFUL book to read if you are on pred (just starting out with it like me, or for people who have been on it for awhile).. i read the whole thing last night while confined to my bed.. its called "Coping with Prednisone: It may work miracles, but how do you handle the side effects" by Eugenia Zukerman and Julie Ingelfinger.  first of all the two authors are sisters.. eugenia is an accomplished flutist who had to take high doses of pred for a lung condition and her sister julie is a doctor and prof of medicine at harvard.  therefore, the book is easy to read and relate to because it has practical, human stories and advice, but also satisfied all my "why?" questions (i.e. WHY will fat redistribute? WHY will my face become bloated?)  best of all it has helpful information to minimize side effects.. i am now on a no salt, no sugar, low fat diet and i am regularly exercising (walking for a half to a full hour each morning– and i’ll start low impact weight bearing exercises soon to prevent bone loss).  anyway, it was a great book and i feel much more in control and knowledgeable about everything.. i’m in the science field so i like to know the biological reasons for things, but the book isn’t "over the heads" of people without a science background because both sisters wrote it.   anyway, i bought it yesterday from Borders Book Stores (US nationwide i believe), but it also available on amazon.com.  thanks for all the support guys.  i seriously would be out of my mind right now without you all.. here’s a big hug for everyone (((((((((ng))))))))))) love, leighann
