Question:
> I take it you are in england aled?
With a name like that I’d say there is every chance Mr. Evans is Welsh? **Entering vent mode… It’s interesting to note that until quite late in the string of posts nobody actually enquired where this person was. It makes me wonder if people are really interested in helping or just posting for the sake of posting something. A bit like the folks whose responses to health questions is "take your dog to the vet" – like none of us could figure that out for ourselves eh? **venting over and have a nice day

Most hotels will take dog(s). Generally, the idea is to tell them in advance. Some hotels require a deposit, refundable or not. Some require a room check prior to departing. As a traveller with up to 6 dogs at a time, generally it is good to crate the animals at night and during the day if you are away. Remember maids and other enter and leave the room during the day. A good place for most dogs is the bathroom. The surfaces are easy to clean — dumped water, pee, etc. And there is little for the dog to damage. Remember to clean up when exercising the animal. — Michael Krolewski Rosetta Inpharmatics Usual disclaimers

Hi there, We usually stay in Best Westerns or Comfort Inns with our labrador, and have never had a problem. Both chains have a free catalog listing the hotels that accept/don’t accept pets. The AAA also publishes "The Pet Book" which lists pet-friendly hotels in towns and states across North America. It’s always best to check ahead if you can, because policies do change. As an aside, when we travel on the interstates, we’ve never had a problem finding a pet-friendly hotel even without reserving ahead. If one hotel at a given exit doesn’t take dogs, another one will. We never leave our dog unattended in the room unless she’s in her cage. This is not to prevent her from damaging hotel property: it’s to prevent her from escaping if anyone enters the room. Also, if your dog is a barker he should never be left unattended in the room – one of our regular "dog friendly" hotels recently became non "dog friendly" because of complaints about barking dogs. Best of luck, Christine

I have stayed religiously with our Mastiff-Rottweiler mix Miette (http://www.fritter.com/mutt.html) at a number of Red Roof Inns. As a company the vast majority of them allow dogs, you just have to sign a form stating you’re responsible for damages, etc. Always call ahead, but I’ve never had a problem. Good luck! Every motel 6 and Super 8 I have ever stayed at let me bring in my dog. I don’t know if it was policy or not. The misery of keeping a dog is his dying so soon. But to be sure, if he lived

Check with your local Automobile Club – they generally have hotel listings and in these listings it will tell you if the hotel is dog friendly or not and if there is an extra charge for dogs and also what there specifics are (ie dog not to be left alone, only dogs under certain weight are allowed, etc.) Good Luck, Bren
