Exercise R Us » Exercise Training » The Continuing Crisis: Forging on Heel
Question:
Last night we got the last of the forging out, on leash anyway; the trick being to hold the leash with both hands with most of the slack taken out (it’s a matter of taking out the last 6 inches of forging, not of preventing pulling, which was solved long long ago). When Annie starts to take her half foot of forge, stop as usual to catch her out of position on an automatic sit, but make the correction a pull with the left hand downward and back, rather than a sit correction as in Koehler. You have to bend over for this. Annie defeated the sit correction long ago by standing on her hind legs, which she excels at. She can’t defeat this since it pulls down. So she winds up jerked back to where she should be, and appears to be accepting the now inevitable and staying back where she should be. The correction is less emphatic than the sit correction, being a little awkward, but it’s more effective because she can’t defeat it by gaining altitude ahead of it. This combines (I hope) with the light line held behind the back tightening around my butt on a stop out of position, which will now serve as a reminder more than an enforcer off leash. Annie has the fastest reflexes of any dog I’ve ever seen, not a plus if you’re a plodding trainer. — Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you’re a jerk.

Hello ron, Your posts are particularly DISTURBING to me, because you are a RANK AMATEUR who is IMPRESSED with HURTING your dog to train her, as you’ve LEARNED from the MONSTER koehler. You are clearly on the way to HANGING your dog AFTER PROVOKING and HURTING her in AS MANY WAYS as is INHUMANELY POSSIBLE for months on end…The TORMENT NEVER ENDS for Annie, and THAT is WHY you are CONSTANTLY having DIFFICULTY TRAINING HER. YOU DON’T NEED MORE EFFECTIVE WAYS TO HURT YOUR DOG, you need EFFECTIVE WAYS to TRAIN her…All you understand and appreciate is FEAR, FORCE, CONFRONTATION, AND PAIN…
> Last night we got the last of the forging out, on leash anyway;
Oh, did we? > the trick being to hold the leash with both hands with most of > the slack taken out (it’s a matter of taking out the last 6 inches > of forging, not of preventing pulling, which was solved long > long ago).
So, you’ve got the lead in both hands, shortened up appropriately but not tight, and when the dog makes her mistake, you’re GOING TO HURT HER… Don’t you THINK the dog KNOWS what’s comming? I do, without even reading your post in advance, I haven’t read beyond this point so far… > When Annie starts to take her half foot of forge, stop as usual > to catch her out of position on an automatic sit, but make the > correction a pull with the left hand downward and back, rather > than a sit correction as in Koehler. Ahem…Sounds like a position you are COMFORTABLE WITH. > Annie defeated the sit correction long ago by standing on her > hind legs, which she excels at. She can’t defeat this since it > pulls down.
Yes she can, YOU just don’t know it yet. I’m telling you from EXPERIENCE, you are going to find out JUST HOWE FAST she can TAKE YOUR FACE OFF for you, for jerking and choking her as you’ve been doing for MONTHS. > So she winds up jerked back to where she should be, and > appears to be accepting the now inevitable and staying back > where she should be.
Yes, and then she will do OTHER undesirable behaviors because of the STRESS and PAIN you have put her through in your attempt to achieve the higher aspects of ADVANCED work, and to enhance the bond between YOU and ANNIE through choking, jerking, pinching and twisting her ears and toes and all of the other SADISTIC METHODS you continuously TORMENT HER WITH. > The correction is less emphatic than the sit correction, being > a little awkward, but it’s more effective because she can’t > defeat it by gaining altitude ahead of it.
The correcton is SADISTIC, and LESS EFFECTIVE, and LESS INTELLIGENT than APPROPRIATE handling and training techniques… I wonder if any of the other readers are as OFFENDED by your VICIOUSNESS towards your BEST FRIEND, as I am… > This combines (I hope) with the light line held behind the back > tightening around my butt on a stop out of position, which will > now serve as a reminder more than an enforcer off leash.
Reminder. Enforcer. I keep telling you people that FORCE TRAINED DOGS ALWAYS NEED AN ENFORCER to perform… WHEN THE CAT IS AWAY, THE MOUSE WILL PLAY. When you FORCE dogs to "train" them, they require and ENFORCER to PERFORM, just as prisoners NEED GUARDS to keep them prisoners, or else they wouldn’t be prisoners, if they were NOT being FORCED to remain captive. Does THAT make and sense to you? Probably not, otherwise I wouldn’t have to be taking you to task REPEATEDLY about this. You won’t be satisfied until Annie tears you or a family member to shreds and THEN YOU’LL KILL HER, because she was a product of BAD BREEDING… Let me tell YOU, PUNK, WHO is the PRODUCT OF BAD BREEDING…LOOK IN THE MIRROR. > Annie has the fastest reflexes of any dog I’ve ever seen, not > a plus if you’re a plodding trainer.
Plodding? That’s not plodding. What YOU are doing is simply acting like vicious, abusive IDIOTIC CHILD, who is well on his way to RUINING a probably wonderful dog. No dog deserves to be subjected to such a SUBHUMAN, UNETHICAL, UNPRINCIPLED, UNCONCIONABLE, VICIOUS, SADISTIC, CRETIN as yourself and the Gang Of Thugs who MARVEL at your SKILL, PERSERVANCE, AND CREATIVITY, in UNNECESSARILY, UNJUSTIFIABLY, and CRUELY HURTING your BEST FRIEND. > Ron Hardin

If you have a dog trainer that tells you to jerk your dog around, choke him, pinch his ears, or twist his toes, shock, shake, slap, scold, hit, or punish him in any manner, that corrections are appropriate, that the dog won’t think of you as the punisher, or that corrections are not harmful, or if they can’t train your dog to do what you want, look for a trainer that knows Howe. You mystify me…. my basic class, with people who have never attempted to train a dog in their life, have the majority of the dogs doing automatic sits when we stop and this is only the third week of the eight week class…. no light lines connected to leashes connected to collars etc…. What kind of dog do you have? Dogstar716 Come see Gunnars Life: http://hometown.aol.com/dogstar716/index.html

A geared dog. The problem isn’t automatic sit but heeling in position. The automatic sit is a convenience being taken advantage of, because she can’t heel ahead and sit in the right place, so the correction is an automatic sit correction. — Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you’re a jerk.

Your constant force and intimidation may backfire on you, and YOU’LL be retrieving your nose out of your dogs stomach when she rips your face off for you. J>

No, the correction AUTOMATICALLY teaches the dog MISTRUST. J>
