Exercise R Us » Biking » Winter Park Mountain Biking Trip

Question:

Phil, A group of guys from work and I ride Winter Park a few times each year.  The mountain biking is fantastic, and the town is really up on mountain biking as well.  Check out the Winter Park home page at: http://www.skiwinterpark.com/wpmj/index.html There is current info on skiing, but there is a "Summer at the Park" section.  You can even put in your group info, and someone from central reservations will call you and tell you what your options are for lodging, etc. Doug   |8^>=     II*

Phil: Thats where me and six other guys went this past July. We rented a three bedroom condo for 6 nights, we paid $70.00 each for all 6 nights. Not bad.  Call Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, they will send you all kinds of info (including condos). We all brought our own bikes. I believe bike rental is around $15 to 20 a day. We left late Friday night, got their Saturday afternoon.  We rode Saturday thru Monday, went down the Colorado River Tuseday, and rode again Wednesday and left late that night. We rode 155 miles and climbed 16,220 feet in four days, not bad for flat landers. We could have stayed for a month, thats why we’re going back in July. We didn’t get to ride some of the higher trails, still to much snow. Let me know when you’ll be up there. These are some of the trails we rode: Tipperary Creek loop, Creekside, Flume, and Chainsaw loop, and the downhill of Lone trail. Michael

I am thinking about taking a trip to Winter Park, Colorado, USA, this summer with a group of about 6-8 guys.   I have a few questions: 1)  What is an affordable place to stay with this many people? 2)  On the average, what is the average daily price to pay to rent a bike? 3)  Is a week sufficient? I would appreciate any further info or comments. Thank you. Phil
