get rid of the quick release and replace it with a simple nut and bolt.

Perhaps the seat post is 0.1 mm (metric system over here) too small in diameter. If that’s not the case (measure seatpost diameter and seat tube) you should perhaps wrap some metal foil around the seatpost. — http://stahlw00.stahl.bau.tu-bs.de/people/rhildebrandt.html Institute for Steelconstruction TU Braunschweig Beethovenstr. 51, 38106 Braunschweig, Germany

If this is the case, what can you do about it?  I just replaced my seat post to get a longer one.  The old one was 30.3 mm in diameter and the shop told me they could not get one that size and so they got me a 30.2 mm post.  I installed it last night and it is definetly looser, although I did get it tight enough to hold me and I weigh 245 lbs.. There was still a decent sized gap in the slit in the seat tube and .1 mm is about 4/1000 of an inch, which is not much.  I am not going to worry about it if it doesn’t slip.  Should I?  Is it possible for the post to wiggle at the top & bottom thus elongating the diameter of the seat tube? : If that’s not the case (measure seatpost diameter and seat tube) you should : perhaps wrap some metal foil around the seatpost. I’d go with strips of aluminum cut from a beer can to use as shims, like in Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. : — : http://stahlw00.stahl.bau.tu-bs.de/people/rhildebrandt.html : Institute for Steelconstruction TU Braunschweig : Beethovenstr. 51, 38106 Braunschweig, Germany — Bob Jones Denver, Colorado
