I have a 21 and I toke it apart and I think that the 21R is basially the same. First, take off the caps.  Then take the elastomers out, they should be all stuck together.  Now you need a really long 5mm allen key.  I actually cut a regular allen key and taped it to a 5mm socket, but to each his own. You get that bolt out and the fork should magically disassemble. Ben

Unscrew the topcaps and remove the elastomer stack. Take a _very_ long (12 inches or so) 5mm allen key and unscrew the allen bolt in the bottom of the legs. Pull it all apart. You’ll need some special tools for this… –oxygen-acetylene torch (oxy propane’ll work almost as well) –four pound mini sledgehammer –pipe wrench –blasting caps (and battery/wires) –dead cat Step 1.         use the sledgehammer to pound the fork out of the head tube.  If you use a threadless headset…cool.  You won’t have to pound too much.  Hit it hard and squarely on the top of the steerer tube.  Do this until you pound the fork through the head tube and onto the floor.  If you use a threaded headset then take off the stem and follow the above instructions.  Hit harder than you might with a tl headset as you will have to fight the threads.  Keep working…you’ll get it. Step 2.         Now you’ll have your fork dangling by your brake cable…just where you want it.  From here you want to fire up your oxy-acetylene set.  While the fork is hanging loose, cut the lower legs just above the dropouts.  Be careful not to hit any of the spokes as they are tricky to weld back together.  Let the wheel drop free and put it in a bucket of water to cool off.  Now double-tap the torch on the front brake housing to cut it free (don’t hit your frame). Give at least thirty seconds for the fork to cool off, then proceed to step three. Step 3.         Now comes the fun part, bumper disassembly!  This is where I had to get creative…dig out (or up) that dead feline and break out the blasting caps. Arm the caps (carefully) by connecting ONE wire to the battery (two will detonate prematurely).  Mix a small batch of epoxy.  Arm two caps and insert one into each fork leg (remember cutting the bottoms off the legs?), epoxying each into place about 2" up the lower leg.  Now, using the remaining epoxy, make two small puddles of epoxy on the dead cat spaced 4.5" apart.  With a firm smack from the hammer, drive the fork legs into the cat with each leg in a puddle of epoxy.  This will seal off the bottom of the fork.  Allow a half-hour to dry (20 minutes if the cat is dried out inside…yes, you’ll know). Proceed. Step 4.         Using goggles and a blast shelter connect both cap leads simultaneously, detonating the cat/fork/caps.  The epoxy kitten will seal off the bottom, redirecting force up.  Pay close attention to where your bumper stacks go, if you actually care at this point.  They might be a little fused from the blast.  Torch cut them apart if neccessary.  Sponge up the cat and locate your bumpers.  Set them aside.  Note:  use of dynamite will blow apart the the lower leg, rendering them useless.  Tovex will anhillate your shop, use extreme caution.  Now slide the lower leg/cat remains off the stanchion tubes and set them aside.  Cut off the fused boots.  Set with bumpers/cats/legs. Proceed to Step 5. Step 5.         From here use your imagination in removing bolts, crown, bushings, etc. Torchcutting the legs will melt the bushings (hint hint).  Fire the pinch bolts by torching them straight at the heads.  Use the pipe wrench liberally to force the legs from the crown.  Keep track of debris/loose parts. Reassembly:         Send all pieces to RockSchlok Racing to recieve no refund and a hell of a laugh.  Answer Products might even reward your ingenuity with a dusty Manitou I (an upgrade, to be sure).  I’ll give you a buck for all the parts.
