Question:

Is Moab too cold during    the winter. You’ll just have to watch the weather reports.  Right now, it’s gorgeous in Moab.  I rode Amasa Back and the Moab Rim over Thanksgiblets weekend, and it was 60 to 70 degrees in the daytime. That could change fast.

Response:

I had the incredible experience to do what you are planning to do.  This was last year (winter) and biked, snowboarded and drank in new mex, co, ut, ca and az.DO NOT pass up the riding in the bay area of ca. Just norht in Marin county is an awesome area, Mt. Tam(alpais?) drive most of the way up, then ride the upper trails.  Long, long long descents.  Be careful, we were warned of many poisons in the area. you can also see other wacky-ass stuff around there.  Ride on the campus of university at Berkeley. What a bunch kooks!.  While you’re in the area, don’t forget to city ride in san fran.  Laguna st. is pretty wild, if my memory serves me correctly. descents through the right interections can be launched off , oh I’d say about 15-20 feet, so adjust the brakes. The bay area was definitely the choice cut .  Good luck. curteye

I want to go on a mountain biking trip somewhere in Western America this winter break.  I have 4 weeks to kill so me and a friend were looking for a cool place to drive to.  We want to be able to see sights along the way and will be camping our way through the trip.  Is Moab too cold during the winter.  I have heard that Marin has some cool places to go.  I live in Portland OR if that makes a difference.  Do you have any recommendations?
