Well Ted, you may be right. But this has been going on for a long time. It’s been a hard fight keeping the place open to bikes. What I don’t understand is why this element works against everything we do, with the only result being that they will not be able to ride there any longer. Makes no sense to me. Time to move on. Jeff …And there you have it… http://www.win.net/~modemnews/

Yo, Well IMHO responding to them the way you did just gave them the thing they wanted probably, annoy trail users, volunteers, get recognition for their actions, and generally be a pain in the ass. Guess what you just helped them get more pleasure from what ever their actions were. Just my two cents from a guy who used to be a punk

People living out of the area have an awful lot of fun with it! Jeff
Response:
Mianus? Really? Do you have bumper stickers that say "DO IT IN MIANUS" or "I LOVE MIANUS" or "MIANUS IS FOR LOVERS", ETC… While you do have a valid flame and I’m not making light of it, I couldn’t resist the sarcastic adolescent humor found in the name of your biking area. Sorry.

What did the note say? Matt
Response:
> What did the note say?
I’ll eventually get around to putting it up on the WEB pages, but really, this stuff has got to just go away. I’ve got work to do. Besdies, the guys who wrote it have access here. I wonder why they just don’t publish it themselves? Embarrassed by their lack of knowledge perhaps? Ah, what the hell. Time to move on. Jeff
Response:
[Note: A town park employee found a note attached to the entrance of Mianus River park in Greenwich, CT. It was forwarded on to me, with a pledge of support, after passing around the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department. This is my response to the writers.] Gents, A bunch of people work their asses off to make a place better and safer for mountain biking (and everyone else at the same time), and you jerks need to go ahead and try to ruin it for everyone. Guess what? You’re succeeding. We begin to make progress in bettering the image of the sport the land managers hold of it and you go and pull a stunt like this. So, to the guys who thought it was so funny to leave your simple minded, spiteful, and irresponsable little note at the Greenwich entrance to Mianus River Park; either help, or go bring your sorry butts to some other place to ride. Hell, for the effort it took you to write it you could have installed a waterbar with us, but I guess you couldn’t do that using stone tools. Oh, and one more thing, you’ve set us back (consider that a success if you will) on the trail you reopened. It was being reconstructed and repaired and *everyone* stayed off it while we worked except you. You objected to the stronger barricades we put in place, but you didn’t respect any of our previous requests to stay off that trail while we worked. The damage you caused on that trail section was seriously hastened by the last heavy rains and it took volunteers time to repair work they had already done in the past. Doesn’t that make you feel special in some way? Next time, don’t be so juvenile and either make direct contact (you sure as hell have my email address now), help us, or go somewhere else. You guys are the ‘yahoos’ the land managers think all Mountain Bikers are. Keep it up and they’ll shut the facility tight. I suppose that is your aim? Where will you ride then? Binny Park? The street? Get with the program. Stop being so damned short sighted and selfish. Jeff (PS: After 8 years on the ‘net, this was my first flame. You know? It felt pretty good. Now, back to your regularly scheduled program.) …..Sally used to play with her hoola-hoop Now she tells her problems to therapy groups… …..John Prine
