Question:

>Does anyone have any experience of EASUN products, in particular >the bionic II?

Hi Tony, I’ve been following the thread on sunglasses in alt.bicycles.tech/off-road and was about ready to say something regarding Eassuns, when you beat me to it. I bought a pair of bionic IIs about a month ago, actually in place of some Arnett ravens which were too dark and basically the wrong shape for biking (IMO). I also tried on some kukris, crossbows and bionic Is but found all of these too shallow, leaving a big gap between the bottom of the lens and my face. The lens quality is really good (maybe not quite as good as Oakleys) and they are just as tough as the afore-mentioned (the shop I bought them at had a pair on display which had been blasted with a shotgun: lots of pellet dents but no cracks, fracturing etc). Try out several pairs if you can. The dark, non- coloured mirror lens was too dark for me, whilst the green mirror lens seemed just about right. If no shops in your area sell them, try Cycles Williamson in Edinburgh (they usually have a small ad. at the back of MBUK or MTB Pro, giving their phone number). Apparently, the bloke responsible for importing these shades lives down the road from this shop. Response:

I have been looking around for a reasonably priced, decent quality set of cycling shades with at least a clear and shade lens. The EASUN range seems to be pretty good and in particular the "bionic II" – round, fairly deep shape which would seem to offer pretty good eye protection and they look better IMO than the sweep style. They come with 3 lenses – orange, clear and a shade type which can vary (smoke, mirror, etc). Does anyone have any experience of EASUN products, in particular the bionic II? Or can you recommend another make/model to meet my requirements? Oakley are just too expensive btw. Would you email any advice you have please? TIA
